Dr. Emerson attended Auburn University, College of Veterinary Medicine, where he was involved in several research projects before graduating in 2002, earning his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. After graduation, he began his career in equine sports medicine at Georgetown Equine Hospital in Charlottesville, Virginia, where he was working under the renowned Dr. Dan Flynn. In order to follow the hunter jumper show circuit, Dr. Emerson, moved to Lexington, Kentucky, where he joined the prestigious Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital. Throughout his time there, he pursued his interests in advanced diagnostic imaging, animal chiropractic, and advanced pain management techniques, and was a staff veterinarian at the 2010 World Equestrian Games.
After settling in Wellington, Florida in 2016, Dr. Emerson treated equine clients in Palm Beach, while also growing his focus on small animal medicine and surgery. In this time he was also working in several for-profit and nonprofit organizations in Palm Beach County and Broward County, providing services including emergency care and wellness exams. Dr. Emerson is experienced in general practice, soft tissue surgery, and emergency medicine. He has completed advanced training in acute scan, echocardiography (Sonopath), and advanced abdominal (Sonopath) ultrasound.
Dr. Emerson has been practicing animal medicine for more than 20 years. When he’s not seeing patients or catching up on the newest procedures, you might find Dr. Emerson at the skating rink, playing hockey, or watching his two sons play.
